On September 2, 2024, the 14th Pan-American Wushu Championships and the 1st Pan-American Wushu Open successfully concluded at the Santa Clara International Convention Center in Silicon Valley, USA. The results of the competitions have been officially announced, along with a collection of “Highlights of the Championship,” marking a new chapter in the flourishing development of Chinese martial arts in the United States and across the Pan-American region.
According to Mr. Li Shudong, a member of the Championship organizing committee, the competition was hosted by the Pan-American Wushu Federation (PAWF), organized by the United States of America Wushu-Kungfu Federation (USAWKF), and executed by the World Taiji Science Federation (WTSF). Mr. Li noted that under the leadership of Mr. Anthony Goh, Vice President of the International Wushu Federation, President of the Pan-American Wushu Federation, and President of the United States of America Wushu-Kungfu Federation, there has been significant progress in promoting Wushu in the Pan-American region in recent years. Following the successful hosting of the World Wushu Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, USA last year, the Pan-American Wushu Championships were once again successfully held in California, USA this year.
The competition attracted national Wushu teams from 13 countries in the Pan-American region, including Argentina, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Barbados, and the United States. Additionally, traditional and open competition teams from China, Singapore, Algeria, and the Congo also participated. The event organizing committee assembled a large team of referees to ensure the success of the competition, including 24 IWUF-certified international referees, 27 Pan-American referees, and 5 U.S. national referees.
